New Delhi: The government has issued significant guidelines, providing significant relief to daughters. Daughters’ names will no longer be removed from pensioners’ family details. This is being considered good news for them. The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare has clarified that daughters’ names should not be removed from the family details of central government employees or pensioners.

This guideline comes after numerous questions were received regarding whether daughters’ names can be removed after an employee’s retirement. According to current rules, all family members, including daughters, must be officially listed in family records.

Even if they are not immediately eligible for a family pension. The purpose of this move is to ensure transparency and ensure benefits reach the rightful beneficiaries.

Members Listed Alongside Pensioners

Several family members must be listed along with pensioners. These family members include spouse, all children, mother, father, and disabled siblings. These details must be submitted to the head of the office in Form 4. Whenever there has been no change in the family structure, whether it’s a birth or an adoption, these should be amended. The Welfare Department’s office memorandum clarifies this. Once a daughter’s details are included, her status as a family member remains valid. The memorandum states that, therefore, the daughter’s name will remain included in the family member details.

Family pension eligibility will be determined as per the rules after the pensioner’s or family pensioner’s death. This ensures that the family list remains complete during the pensioner’s lifetime, while eligibility is subsequently confirmed based on the prevailing rules.
