Apply for a Ration Card from Home Using the UMANG App

If you want to get a new ration card, you no longer need to visit a government office. You can easily do this with the UMANG app launched by the Government of India.

First, download the UMANG app on your phone.

Android users can download it from the Google Play Store, and iPhone users can download it from the App Store.

After downloading the app, register with your mobile number.

Go to the ‘Services’ section on the home page.

Scroll down and you will find the ‘Ration Card’ option under ‘Utility Services’. Click ‘Apply for Ration Card’ here.

Next, select your state and carefully fill in the required information, such as name, father’s name, date of birth, and address.

Upload scanned copies of the required documents.

Finally, click ‘Submit’. This way, your application will be completed.

In which states is this feature available

It’s important to know that currently, the facility to apply for a ration card through the UMANG app is available in a limited number of states and union territories. These include Chandigarh, Ladakh, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. People in these areas can apply online directly through this app. It is expected that this feature will soon be rolled out to all other states in the country. The government is continuously working to expand this service to more states.
