Ration Card Cancelled – Big news for Ration Card Holders. The Food Department has conducted physical verification of ration cards in all districts, including the capital Raipur. 82 lakh 63 thousand ration cards have been issued across the state, with a total membership of 2 crore 73 lakh 61 thousand 287. During the physical verification conducted by the Food Department, the names of 1 lakh 93 thousand 67 members across the state have been removed from ration cards.
Ration cards cancelled after physical verification
During the physical verification of ration cards by the Food Department, the names of several members who have either died or migrated were revealed. 696,000 ration cards have been issued in Raipur district. During the physical verification, the names of 17,351 members from Raipur district were cancelled from the cards. If those who migrated wish to return and add their names to the card, the Food Department will initiate the process of adding names again.
Raipur district’s Food Controller Bhupendra Mishra said, “The work of verification of ration cards has been done in Raipur district. 6 lakh 96 thousand ration cards have been issued in Raipur district. During the physical verification, the verification was done door to door by district employees at the district level and by zone employees at the municipal body level. During this, the ration cards of those who have died and those who have migrated have been cancelled. The number of such people in the district whose ration cards have been cancelled is 17 thousand 351.”
The Food Department says that if those who have migrated return, their names will be added to ration cards. According to Food Department rules, physical verification of ration cards is required every year.
