To bring transparency in the ration distribution system and cancel fake or duplicate ration cards, the Government of India has made e-KYC mandatory for ration card holders. All ration card holders had to complete the process of e-KYC by 31 March 2025, but still this process of 5 lakh ration card holders is incomplete. For this reason, the government has now extended the last date to 30 April 2025. If you are also a ration card holder, then this news is very important for you, because if you do not get e-KYC done within the time limit, you may have to be deprived of facilities like free ration.

The ration card can also be cancelled

Along with extending the last date of ration card e-KYC, the government has also made it clear that if the beneficiaries do not get ration card e-KYC done by the stipulated time, then the benefits they get will be terminated. The facility of free ration is prominent in this. Apart from this, their ration card can also be canceled. The government wants to ensure that only eligible persons get the benefit of a ration card, so all beneficiaries must complete the e-KYC process.

Why is Ration Card e-KYC necessary

If the name of the family member is not being added in the ration card, then do this work, follow this

The government wants to ensure that the benefit of ration cards reaches only eligible persons. Therefore, beneficiaries are being identified through biometric verification by linking ration cards with Aadhar cards. By doing this, fake beneficiaries will be identified and the right people will be able to use government resources. This step will help in making the ration distribution system more efficient and transparent, so that the benefits can reach the needy people easily.

These can be the reasons for the delay in ration card e-KYC

Still the process of e-KYC of about 5 lakh ration card holders has not been completed. There can be many reasons behind this, such as:

Technical problems in rural areas such as lack of network, and malfunctioning of e-POS machines.

Many beneficiaries are still unaware of the ration card e-KYC process. Lack of awareness is also a big reason.

Many people live outside their native place, due to which they are not able to get e-KYC done on time.

Fingerprints of many people are not working properly in the machine, such as those of the elderly, so processes like biometrics are getting delayed.

The central government wants to complete 100% e-KYC process by 30 April 2025. If this does not happen, the beneficiaries will not be able to avail facilities like subsidy and grain allocation. Therefore, all ration card holders are requested to complete their e-KYC process before the last date.
