For those aspiring to become government teachers, there’s excellent news! The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) has unveiled a massive recruitment drive for 35,726 Assistant Teacher positions under the 2nd State Level Teacher Eligibility Test (2nd SLST). The application process has already commenced on June 16, 2025, and interested candidates have until July 14, 2025, to submit their applications online.
This extensive recruitment is divided into two main categories. A total of 23,212 positions are available for teachers in classes 9th and 10th, while 12,514 vacancies are open for classes 11th and 12th. Regarding eligibility, candidates for classes 9-10 must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree along with a B.Ed or an equivalent qualification.
For those eyeing positions in classes 11-12, a Master’s degree coupled with a B.Ed or a BA B.Ed / B.Sc B.Ed is mandatory. The age criteria stipulate a minimum of 21 years and a maximum of 40 years as of January 1, 2025. Age relaxations will be applicable for reserved categories as per government norms.
The application fee is ₹500 for General, OBC, EWS, and Other State candidates. However, SC, ST, and PH candidates benefit from a reduced fee of ₹200. This fee can be paid conveniently through either online or offline modes. To apply, candidates should first visit the official WBSSC website and thoroughly review the detailed notification.
It’s crucial to have all necessary documents, such as a passport-sized photograph, signature, identity proof, and B.Ed degree, scanned and ready.
