After giving GST relief during the festive season, the Modi government has made another big announcement for poor families. The central government will give 25 lakh free LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) during Navratri. This will make the total number of beneficiaries under the scheme 10.6 crore. Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced this.
He said the government will spend ₹2,050 for each connection under Ujjwala Yojana. This includes a free LPG cylinder, gas stove, regulator, and other related equipment. Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana Rules
Poor families and adult women from SC and ST communities who do not have LPG at home can get a free connection under Ujjwala 2.0.
To apply, the woman must have:
- Aadhaar card
- Ration card
- Proof of address
- Passport-size photo
- Bank account
How to Apply
- Go to the official website: https://pmuy.gov.in/e-kyc.html
- Choose the gas company (Indane, Bharat Gas, HP Gas)
- Choose connection type (Ujjwala 2.0 new connection)
- Select state, district, and distributor
- Enter mobile number, captcha, and OTP
- Fill in family details, personal details, address, bank details
- Choose cylinder type (rural or urban) and submit declaration
- Submit application. You will get a reference number. Take it to the gas agency
- With ₹300 subsidy, an LPG cylinder costs only ₹553 to refill for Ujjwala beneficiaries. This is lower than in most LPG-producing countries.
