Officials stated that the scheme aims to empower women to become self-reliant and provide them with self-employment and employment opportunities. They explained that the scheme is universal in nature, providing financial assistance to one woman from each family in the state to enable them to pursue a career of their choice.

Government assistance up to Rs 2 lakh

Officials also stated that an initial amount of Rs 10,000 will be provided, with the next phase likely to include additional financial assistance of up to Rs 2 lakh. This assistance can be used in areas of the beneficiary’s choice, including agriculture, animal husbandry, handicrafts, sewing and knitting, and other small-scale enterprises.

Officials said the scheme will be based on community participation, and experts associated with self-help groups will provide training to help them succeed in their efforts. In addition to financial assistance, community resource persons associated with self-help groups will provide training to support their efforts. Rural haat-bazaars will be further developed in the state to promote the sale of their produce.

The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) governments at the Centre and in Bihar have launched several development and welfare schemes in view of the upcoming elections in the state as the ruling coalition strives to retain power in the state, officials said. To mark the launch of the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, a state-wide programme will be run at the district, block, cluster and village levels in the state, involving over one crore women. It should be noted that Bihar is going to have assembly elections this year.
