Aadhaar-UAN Link: Big news for everyone. As the year wraps up, deadlines for a bunch of important tasks are creeping up. Some deadlines have already slipped by, like the one for linking Aadhaar and UAN, which is now in the past. The EPFO has made it clear that there won’t be any more extensions. This means that employers who haven’t linked them will be out of luck after November 2025. Let’s break down which tasks will be impacted.
ECR filing will be off the table
Employers who missed the Aadhaar and UAN linking deadline won’t be able to file ECR starting November 2025. ECR is a digital document that details employee contributions and payments to the EPFO every month. If Aadhaar and UAN aren’t linked, this file won’t get submitted.
This could potentially halt the entire PF system for employers. The EPFO has issued multiple warnings and even extended the deadline before. But now, they say they’ve given enough time. Once the deadline is up, there’s no chance for relief. So, those who still need to link could run into some trouble.
Which sectors will feel the pinch?
This decision affects the whole country, but some areas and sectors will feel it more than others. Employers in the northeastern states like Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura should be especially careful. Industries like beedi manufacturing, building and construction materials, and plantations such as tea, coffee, pepper, cardamom, jute, and rubber will also be directly impacted.
How to link Aadhaar with UAN?
Now, for the last and most crucial point. If your Aadhaar isn’t linked to your UAN yet, you can do it right away online. Just log in to the EPFO Unified Portal. Then, head to Manage, select KYC, choose Aadhaar, enter your number, and hit save. To check the status of your linking, log in to the Member Service Portal and open the KYC section. If Aadhaar appears in the Verified Documents, everything is fine. If it doesn’t, don’t delay, otherwise many future PF-related tasks could be stalled.
