The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) issues a Universal Account Number (UAN) to every employee, which links all your PF accounts on a single platform. This is how the UAN number was previously activated

Until recently, to activate the UAN number, employees had to go to the official EPFO ​​website and complete the process. To do this, they first had to visit the portal https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/. Here, they could activate their UAN number by clicking on the “Activate UAN” option. This process was quite simple, but everyone had to log in to the website, enter an OTP, and update their details.

Now a new way to activate your UAN

Keeping employees’ convenience in mind, the EPFO ​​has made a major change to the process of activating your UAN number. You no longer need to visit the website; instead, you can do this directly from your mobile phone. You can use the ‘Umang App’.

1. First, download and install the Umang app on your mobile phone.
2. Opening the app will ask you for some basic information, such as your name, mobile number, and Aadhaar linking details.
3. After entering these details, you will be able to log in.
4. After logging in, go to the ‘EPFO Services’ section on the home screen.
5. You will find the ‘UAN Activation’ option. Click on ‘UAN Services Through Face Auth’.
6. This feature allows you to activate your UAN number through face authentication.
7. Once the process is complete, your UAN number will be activated, and you will be able to easily log in to your PF account.

Benefits of UAN Activation

Once your UAN number is activated, you can access almost all services related to your PF account online. This includes checking your PF passbook, checking your balance, filing claims, withdrawing advances, and linking old PF accounts to your new account. This makes your entire PF management completely digital and transparent.
