Train Ticket Booking Update: Indian Railways has decided to make a major change regarding unreserved ticket booking. The railways have announced that the UTS mobile app will be completely shut down from March 1, 2026. After this, the RailOne app will be the official and only digital platform for booking unreserved tickets. The railways believe that this will make the ticket booking process simpler, faster, and more integrated.

To encourage passengers to use the RailOne app, the railways are offering a 3 percent discount on ticket bookings. This discount will be effective from January 14th. The UTS app is being gradually phased out, and the season ticket option has already been removed from it.

Passengers will get many facilities
According to Shashikant Tripathi, Chief Public Relations Officer of the railways, the RailOne app has been designed as an all-in-one platform. Through this app, passengers will be able to book both unreserved and reserved tickets. This will eliminate the need to use different apps, and passengers will get all railway services in one place.

Southern Railway leads in mobile ticket booking
According to the Railway Board, Southern Railway has performed exceptionally well in unreserved ticket booking through mobile apps. Currently, about 29.5 percent of unreserved tickets are being booked through mobile apps there. This is why Southern Railway is among the top-performing zones in the country. The Railway Board aims to increase this figure to 40 percent by March 1, 2026. For this, instructions have been given to create awareness among passengers and continuously monitor the use of the RailOne app.

The Railway Board stated that all railway divisions have made good progress in increasing mobile-based ticket booking. The board has appealed to further strengthen this effort. The RailOne app was launched by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in July 2025 on the occasion of CRIS’s 40th Foundation Day. This app is available on both Android and iOS platforms. In addition to ticket booking, this app also offers features such as live train tracking, e-catering, and the ability to file complaints.
