An urgent warning has been issued to beneficiaries of the Maharashtra government’s popular Chief Minister’s Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana. If you are also benefiting from the monthly financial assistance of ₹1,500, you have very little time left to complete the e-KYC process. The state’s Women and Child Development Department has clarified that Aadhaar authentication is mandatory for approximately 24.3 million eligible women. If this process is not completed by the deadline of December 31, 2025, your next installments may be permanently halted.

The Maharashtra government approved this landmark scheme on June 28, 2024, under the chairmanship of then Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The scheme’s primary objective is to empower women aged 21 to 65 in the state financially and improve their nutrition and health.

Under this scheme, the government transfers ₹1,500 per month directly to the bank accounts of eligible women. So far, 16 installments have been successfully disbursed, and this scheme is not only empowering women with self-reliance but also bringing about a dramatic change in the standard of living of women in rural areas.

e-KYC and Last Chance for Correction

Sanjay Patil, District Women and Child Development Officer of Nandurbar district, informed through a government press release that e-KYC for beneficiary verification is now in its final stages, with the deadline set for December 31, 2025. State Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare also clarified that the government’s goal is to ensure that every eligible woman receives benefits.

Many women, due to technical reasons or a lack of information, made incorrect choices while completing the e-KYC process. They are now allowed to make corrections by re-logging into the portal. This is the last chance for corrections, and there will be no room for corrections.

Why is e-KYC mandatory

The government has discovered that ineligible individuals are also trying to benefit from this scheme, and an investigation has uncovered approximately 8,000 women who, despite holding government jobs, were receiving benefits fraudulently. Strict recovery action has now been initiated against these individuals.

The e-KYC process cross-verifies data based on 13 different parameters, ensuring that funds reach only those women who are truly eligible. The portal also provides special features for women whose husbands or fathers are no longer alive, ensuring they face no verification problems.
