Indian Railways Rules: Indian Railways has introduced a significant update to its ticketing system for travelers. Starting March 1, the old UTS App will be phased out and replaced with the new RailOne App. This change means that passengers will no longer need separate applications to book general tickets, platform tickets, and reserved tickets. The primary goal of this update is to simplify and enhance the ticket booking experience for travelers. Every day, millions of passengers buy general and platform tickets via mobile, but many encountered challenges with the previous app. The RailOne App addresses these issues and consolidates all ticketing services into one platform.
What is the RailOne app and how does it function?
The RailOne app is a contemporary platform that offers nearly all the conveniences associated with rail travel. You can now effortlessly view and book general (unreserved) tickets, platform tickets, reserved tickets (including set or berth bookings), check train live status and location, and access other travel-related information all from a single app. In the past, passengers had to switch between multiple apps or platforms, which was often time-consuming and confusing. The RailOne app removes this inconvenience and streamlines the ticket booking process.
QR ticket now required
A QR ticket is now mandatory for accessing the platform. This means that without a mobile or printed QR ticket, entry to the platform will be denied. When you book tickets through the RailOne app, you will receive a QR code that can be scanned at the station. This measure is intended to assist passengers and digitize the ticketing process. It will also help minimize the issue of counterfeit tickets and ensure quicker and safer access to the platform.
