When will banks will remain close

The excitement of Chhath Puja is now visible in every street and neighborhood. People are busy cleaning the ghats, preparing prasad at home, and the markets are crowded. So, if you have any urgent bank-related work to do, you’ll have to wait two days. In fact, banks will remain closed in some states for the Chhath festival.

According to the Reserve Bank of India’s ( RBI ) holiday calendar, banks will be closed in Kolkata, Patna, and Ranchi on Monday, October 27, 2025, the evening offering of Arghya (wedding) for Chhath Puja. Additionally, a bank holiday has been declared in Patna and Ranchi on October 28. Residents of Bihar and Jharkhand will need to postpone any offline banking work during these two days. Bank closures during festivals often cause inconvenience to people. However, most banking tasks can now be completed online.

Despite bank holidays, services like net banking, mobile banking, and UPI will remain operational. You can make payments and transfers through IMPS, NEFT, and RTGS from the comfort of your home. Cash withdrawals, balance checks, and mini-statements will also be possible from ATMs .

 

Chhath festival concludes on October 28

This year, Chhath Puja began on October 25th. Kharna, the second day of Chhath. After the Kharna puja, devotees will observe a strict fast for 36 hours. Following this, they will offer prayers to the setting sun at sunset on October 27th, and then break the fast by offering prayers to the rising sun on October 28th. This four-day festival symbolizes the worship of the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya. Devotees observe the fast with complete discipline, devotion, and offer prayers to the Sun God for the happiness and prosperity of their families. This festival is celebrated with great pomp in Bihar, Jharkhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh, and the Terai region of Nepal.
