Strict action was initiated against fraudulent beneficiaries

The central government has now initiated strict action against those abusing the scheme. Investigations have revealed that many ineligible individuals are benefiting from the scheme. These include those whose land is owned by companies or institutions, those whose family members are income taxpayers, or those in government jobs. Furthermore, payments were issued in the names of several deceased farmers. In all such cases, the government has sent refund notices to the beneficiaries.

Stricter Eligibility Verification and Prevention Process

The government has now tightened the eligibility review process for the scheme. According to the rules, if more than one member of a farming family has benefited from the scheme, only one person will receive the payment. Furthermore, payments to farmers whose bank accounts are not linked to Aadhaar or NPCI have been stopped. The government aims to ensure that every rupee reaches the right eligible farmer.

Online Refund Facility for Wrongful Payees

The central government has launched a new ‘Refund Online’ facility for beneficiaries who have mistakenly benefited from the scheme. Through this facility, they can return the amount paid by visiting the official website of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. The Agriculture Ministry states that the purpose of this process is not to punish anyone, but to ensure the transparent and correct implementation of the scheme.

Aid funds reach the right farmers

The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme is a major relief for small and marginal farmers in the country. The government wants this assistance to reach only those farmers who are truly eligible. Farmers have been advised to regularly check their eligibility status and payment updates on the PM Kisan portal.
