Ration Card Update: The Uttar Pradesh government is now working to extend the benefits of government schemes to families who have previously been deprived of them due to a lack of ration cards. To this end, a Family ID campaign, or “One Family, One Identity,” is being launched in the state. Under this scheme, Family ID cards are being made for all eligible families free of charge, enabling them to directly benefit from over 76 government schemes.

Supply Department Assigned

The District Supply Department has been assigned the responsibility of making Family ID cards. The department has been tasked with identifying and verifying beneficiaries who currently do not have ration cards. This includes 927 destitute women pension beneficiaries, 2285 disabled pension beneficiaries, and approximately 5000 old-age pension beneficiaries. After verification, ration cards will be made for these eligible individuals, and the ration card number will be used as the Family ID number.

People will benefit from this facility

To complete this task, 14 supply inspectors have been appointed from six tehsils. The department has been given the target of creating 8,212 family IDs, of which cards for disabled and destitute individuals have already been created. Work is now underway on the list of old-age pension beneficiaries so that all families can avail of this facility as soon as possible.

Benefits of 76 schemes from one card

The most significant feature of the Family ID Card Scheme is that a single card will enable the benefits of 76 central and state government schemes. This 12-digit card will contain the details of all family members. This card will serve as a unique family identity card, reducing the need for documents such as income, caste, and residence certificates.

Aadhaar and mobile number linking are mandatory

For a Family ID, it is mandatory for all family members to have an Aadhaar number. Furthermore, each member’s Aadhaar must be linked to an active mobile number. This is necessary so that identity can be verified through an OTP. If a member’s mobile number is not linked to Aadhaar or has changed, it must first be updated in Aadhaar.

What are the benefits of a Family ID?

Once a Family ID is created, people will no longer have to visit different offices for income, caste, and residence certificates. The benefits of government schemes will automatically reach eligible families. The state government’s aim with this initiative is to ensure that no needy family is deprived of government schemes.
