DA Hike News: In light of the 8th Pay Commission’s implementation, the Mizoram government has shared some positive news for its government employees. A cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Lalduhawma has decided to raise the dearness allowance (DA) by 4%, starting November 1, 2025. Employees will now enjoy a total DA of 44% instead of the previous 40% of their basic salary. This translates to an immediate 4% benefit in their earnings.

Additionally, you will receive another 2% increase

The Cabinet has also sanctioned a 2% rise in DA, bringing it to 46%, effective April 1, 2026. This indicates that employees will experience another notable pay increase starting next April. However, a senior official remarked, “This is indeed great news for us, but we still fall short compared to central government employees, who receive around 53% DA on their basic pay.”

There was also a 4% increase last year

In October 2024, the Mizoram government had previously raised the DA from 36% to 40%. Moreover, the cabinet made another encouraging decision: they approved a Special Incentive Allowance for police officers assigned to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and for staff below the rank of Assistant Sub-Inspector. The Mizoram government has raised the DA as the Eighth Pay Commission has been established in the country, with the notification issued on November 3.

8th Pay Commission Updates

The last DA increase for 2025 has been implemented, and the dearness allowance (DA) has now reached 58%, effective July 1, 2025. The government has finalized the terms of the 8th Pay Commission and directed the commission to submit its report within 18 months. This means that even if the 8th Pay Commission is implemented later, employees will receive arrears (remaining salaries) starting January 1, 2026.
