gold price today: Demand for gold remained subdued during Akshaya Tritiya, one of India’s major festivals. However, a slight uptick was observed in investment-related demand. Compared to the previous Akshaya Tritiya, gold prices recorded this time are approximately 63% higher. In this era of high inflation, purchasing gold is not an easy feat for everyone. The rise in gold prices has put the brakes on jewellery purchases. According to a report by the Indian Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), the rate for 24-carat gold closed at ₹151,655 per 10 grams on Friday.

Immediately upon the market opening on the MCX, silver witnessed a decline of nearly ₹4,000, while gold became cheaper by ₹1,600. Silver contracts for May 5th delivery closed at ₹257,142 per kilogram in the previous session. Today, it opened at ₹253,453 and, during early trading, fell to ₹253,198—marking a decline of ₹3,944.
