Gangasagar Mela 2026: To ensure smooth and safe travel for pilgrims during the upcoming Gangasagar Mela 2026, the Sealdah Division of Eastern Railway has finalized a record increase in train services. Under this historic initiative, the Sealdah Division is operating a total of 126 special trains, a significant increase from the 72 special trains operated in previous years.

To ensure the smooth and safe operation of this expanded operational system, Senior Divisional Operations Manager, Sealdah, Pankaj Yadav, held a strategic meeting with controllers and core supervisors. Describing the control system as the backbone of the division, he said its role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation and safety of the 126 special trains.

During the meeting, special emphasis was placed on seamlessly integrating additional special trains into the existing timetable, ensuring a smooth and convenient journey for the millions of pilgrims heading to the holy Sangam. On this occasion, Mr. Yadav issued strict instructions regarding operational discipline. He clarified that the division will operate under a state of high vigilance during the fair period and there will be zero tolerance for human errors. Any human error that causes inconvenience to passengers or operational disruptions will be dealt with strictly. Efficiency and safety are our top priorities.

Active field presence: Officers and supervisors will be deployed at key locations to monitor crowds in real time and track train movement.

Maximum Transportation Capacity: Operation of 126 special trains will reduce congestion at stations and provide more frequent travel options to passengers.

Proactive Surveillance: Controllers have been entrusted with the responsibility of continuous monitoring to identify and prevent any potential operational or logistic bottlenecks before they occur.
