Following the Cabinet meeting chaired by PM Narendra Modi, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav shared important information. He said that three major decisions were taken in the Cabinet today under the chairmanship of PM Modi. He said that the first decision is regarding Census 2027. A budget of ₹11,718 crore has been approved for the census, which is a very large process in the country.
Secondly, a major reform has been implemented in the country’s coal sector through Coal Setu. Third, a major step has been taken for the welfare of farmers. He stated that a nationwide census will be conducted starting in 2027. This census will be conducted in two phases.
The first phase will consist of house listing and housing census, which will take place from April to September 2026, while the second phase will be the population census, which will begin in February 2027.
