Delhi NCR Weather Update: An intense heatwave is currently gripping central and northwestern India, including Bihar, UP, and the Delhi-NCR region. Meanwhile, rainfall alerts have also been issued for several states across the country. Furthermore, severe heat conditions are expected to persist in eastern India and the adjoining peninsular region over the next 3 to 5 days.
Regarding the weather in Delhi-NCR, an alert has been issued warning of light rainfall accompanied by dust storms within the next few hours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ in view of the anticipated storms and rain.
Rain Expected in Delhi-NCR
According to the IMD, dust storms may sweep across Delhi within the next 2 to 3 hours. The Meteorological Department recently shared a post on the social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), stating that there is a likelihood of dust storms occurring over the next two hours in Sohna, Rewari, and Nuh (Haryana), as well as Bhiwadi (Rajasthan).

Additionally, light rain or drizzle, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, with strong winds gusting at 30–40 km/h, is possible. Should rainfall occur, a noticeable drop in the maximum temperatures across the Delhi-NCR region is expected.
Over the past few days, residents of Delhi-NCR have appeared visibly distressed due to the scorching heat. The intense sunshine has made it extremely difficult for people to venture out of their homes during the afternoon hours.

The Meteorological Department also noted that this storm system originated from the west and is likely to impact several areas across Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh. A possibility of dust storms occurring in various parts of Delhi over the next three hours has been indicated. On Sunday, the maximum temperatures recorded at various weather stations across Delhi-NCR remained significantly higher than normal.
The highest temperature—44.6 degrees Celsius—was recorded at the Aya Nagar station, while the maximum temperature at Lodhi Road was recorded at 43.8 degrees Celsius.
Heatwave Warning for These States
– According to the Meteorological Department, heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi between May 25 and May 28. Furthermore, there is a possibility of severe heatwave conditions in certain areas from May 25 to May 27.
– There is a high probability of heatwave conditions occurring in some parts of Uttar Pradesh between May 25 and May 28.
– There is a high probability of heatwave conditions in some parts of Rajasthan between May 25 and May 30. During this same period, there is also a possibility of severe heatwave conditions in certain areas of Western Rajasthan.
– An alert regarding heatwave conditions has been issued for some parts of Madhya Pradesh for the period between May 25 and May 30.
– Heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in some parts of Vidarbha between May 25 and May 29.
