FASTag Users Alert: New Annual Pass System Starts from August 15

Do you also travel daily or frequently on the National Highway and are troubled by the toll tax? So there is great news for you. Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced the release of the FASTag Annual Pass. The price of this pass will be ₹ 3000, and it will come into effect from August 15, 2025. This pass is for all non-commercial vehicles that ply on the National Highway. What is the FASTag Annual Pass?

This pass is exclusively for National Highways and its validity will be up to one year or 200 trips (whichever is earlier). This means that by paying ₹3000, you can pass through the toll plaza for one year or 200 times without any additional charge.

Do I have to buy a new FASTag?

Vehicles that already have FASTag installed do not need to buy a new pass. Your existing FASTag will be activated as an annual pass. There are just a few conditions for this. Your FASTag should be properly installed on the windshield of the vehicle. Your valid registration number should be linked to FASTag. Your FASTag should not be blacklisted.

How to activate the FASTag Annual Pass?

To activate the annual pass on your existing FASTag, you have to pay ₹3000 by visiting the Highway Yatra mobile app or the NHAI website. While making the payment, you have to choose the option of “FASTag Annual Pass”. Your pass will be activated as soon as the payment is completed.

Facility of two accounts

After the annual pass is activated, two accounts will be created in your FASTag. One is the normal FASTag account. The other is the FASTag Annual Pass account. When you cross the toll plaza on the National Highway, the toll will be deducted from your Annual Pass account. Whereas, when you pass through the toll plaza on a state highway, the toll will be deducted from the normal FASTag account.

Will it be valid at all toll plazas?

The FASTag Annual Pass will be valid only at all toll plazas on the National Highway. It will not be valid on state highways. Therefore, when you travel on the state highway, your toll will be deducted from the normal FASTag account.
