DA Hike– Good news for government employees. The Jammu and Kashmir government has provided relief to its employees, pensioners, family pensioners by increasing their dearness allowance (DA). In this regard, the Finance Department has issued four separate orders. The dearness allowance of government employees working under the recommendation of the Seventh Pay Commission has been increased by two percent. At present, DA on basic salary is 53 percent, which has been revised to 55 percent and it will be effective from January 1, 2025.
The additional installment of the arrears of dearness allowance from January 2025 to May 2025 will be given in cash in the month of June and the increased DA will become a part of the salary of June. This order issued by the Finance Department has cited the decision of the Cabinet on May 27. Along with this, the DA of government pension holders and family pension holders has been increased by two percent.
At present, DA on basic pension and basic family pension has been increased from 53 percent to 55 percent and this will also be applicable from January 1, 2025. At the same time, the government has also increased the DA of the employees receiving salary as per the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission. As per the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission, the current DA on the basic salary of the employees in the pay scale is 246 percent, which has been increased to 252 percent.
There has been an increase of 6 percent in this and this too will be effective from January 1, 2025. Similarly, under the recommendation of the Sixth Pay Commission, the DA of pensioners and family pension holders has also been increased by 6 percent. The existing DA on basic salary has been increased from 246 percent to 252 percent and this too will be considered effective from January 1, 2025. There are more than four and a half lakh employees and about 2.38 lakh pension and family pension holders in Jammu and Kashmir.
