The year 2026 has commenced. Since January 1, 2026, consumers have felt greater effects from inflation. Oil companies throughout the country are raising the price of fuel and will continue to do so moving forward as a result. Additionally, the pricing of commercial-grade LPGs —19 KG cylinders —has also been driven upwards by approximately 111 Rupees. However, there will not be any increases or changes to 14 KG domestic-grade LPG cylinders.

On January 1, 2026, these new rates are in place. The average cost of a 19 KG commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi will be averaging Rs 1691.50 compared to Rs1580.50 before today. The current pricing for a Kolkata based LPG cylinder will be increasing by 111 Rupees from Rs1684.00 to Rs1795.00. In Mumbai, commercial propane/butane mixes are going to rise on an average from Rs1531.50 to Rs1642.50 per cylinder, while in Chennai, we see an increase going from Rs1739.50 to Rs1849.50 per cylinder.

In December, the price for Cylinders was Reduced.

On December 1st, 2025, the Commercial Cylinder Price (19 kgs) underwent a revision which resulted in a reduced Price. The price for all Commercial LPG cylinders across India was reduced effective 1st December 2025. In Delhi and Kolkata, the reduction was Rs 10 whereas in Mumbai and Chennai the reduction was Rs 11.

On November 1st 2025 also, the price of commercial LPG was reduced across the country. In Delhi, for example, the price of a 19kg cylinder dropped from Rs1595.50 to Rs1590. In Kolkata, it fell from Rs1700.50 to Rs1694 and in Mumbai from Rs1547 to Rs1542 and in Chennai from Rs1754.50 to Rs1750. The Commercial LPG cylinders have been changing price quite frequently recently. In the last month or so there have been price increases and price drops.

At the moment, there has been no change in the prices of domestic gas cylinders since (at least) April 2016. Domestic gas cylinders are priced at Rs853 in Delhi, Rs879 in Kolkata, Rs852 in Mumbai and Rs868 in Chennai. The last price increase for the domestic gas cylinder occurred in April 2025 with a Rs50 increase from domestic companies. The last price reduction for the domestic gas cylinders occurred in March 2024 when the government made this announcement just prior to the Lok Sabha elections. That time they reduced the price of domestic LPG cylinders by Rs100.
