Bank Holiday: Big news for bank account holders. Banks will be closed in most states today, October 7th. All public and private sector banks will be closed in four states on Tuesday. Banks will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, October 7th, in four places. All public and private banks will be closed in Karnataka, Odisha, Chandigarh, and Himachal Pradesh on the occasion of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti and Kumar Purnima. Banks will remain open in all other states. These two festivals are celebrated on the full moon day of the month of Ashwin. Maharishi Valmiki wrote the Ramayana, and this day is celebrated in his memory. Kumar Purnima is celebrated in Eastern India, especially in Odisha and Bihar. On this day, people worship the moon and pray to Lord Kartikeya.

October 21, 2025- Banks will remain closed in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim, Manipur, Jammu and Srinagar on account of Diwali Amavasya, Lakshmi Puja and Govardhan Puja.
October 22, 2025- Banks will remain closed on Diwali, Vikram Samvat New Year, Govardhan Puja and Balipadyami in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
October 23, 2025- Banks will remain closed in Gujarat, Sikkim, Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Himachal Pradesh on the occasion of Bhai Dooj, Chitragupta Jayanti, Lakshmi Puja, Bhatridwitiya and Ningol Chakouba.
October 25 – Fourth Saturday

October 27, 2025- Banks will remain closed in West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand on account of Chhath Puja (evening Arghya).
October 28, 2025- There will be a bank holiday on Chhath Puja (morning Arghya) in Bihar and Jharkhand.
October 31, 2025- Banks will remain closed in Gujarat on the occasion of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary.
