Ration Card: The Indian government’s Digital India mission is progressing rapidly. Now, there are many tasks you can complete online or from your mobile phone, without having to visit government offices. We’re bringing you a series of such news stories, where we’ll discuss online services you can easily access using your phone or laptop. In this series, today we’ll learn how you can check your name on your ration card using your Aadhaar card.
Facility available online
Every state provides this facility online. Before we dive into the steps for checking your name, let’s first review the essentials. First, have your Aadhaar card ready. Next, you’ll need a smartphone or laptop. Open an internet browser like Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge on whichever device you’re comfortable with. Now, let’s learn the essential steps.
Check your name in the ration card using Aadhaar in this way
- To do this, first visit the official website of the Food Department. To do this, search nfsa.gov in your phone or laptop’s browser. You can also go directly to this link: https://nfsa.gov.in/Default.aspx
- You’ll see several menus on the Food Department website. To check your name on your ration card using your Aadhaar card, go to the option labeled “State Food Portals.”
- The page that opens will then show you a list of all states. Here, you’ll need to select your state.
- You will then be prompted to select either your Aadhaar number or your ration card number in a box. Here, select the Aadhaar card option. In the next step, enter your Aadhaar number and select View Details.
- After completing these steps, you will see the ration card information associated with that Aadhaar number. You will see the ration card number, the head of household’s name, address, and information about all the members listed on the ration card. This is where you can check your name on the ration card.
Keep this in mind
Keep in mind that government websites can sometimes run slowly. In such cases, you can check your name even at night. This problem may not occur at night due to the reduced server load.
