UIDAI Aadhaar Update 2025: Why is it important for children to update their biometrics?
Biometric data of young children is not collected when making Aadhaar cards because their fingerprints and irises are not fully developed. This identity develops permanently with age, so a mandatory biometric update is required for the first time at the age of 5 and a second time at the age of 15. This update ensures the child’s identity is accurate and usable for the future. If updates are not done on time, the child may face problems with various government schemes, scholarships, school scholarships, banking services, and identity-based processes.
Aadhaar Update 2025: UIDAI and BIT Partnership Aims
UIDAI has collaborated with Behavioral Insights Limited to simplify and expedite the biometric update process for children. Many families delay updating due to a lack of information, time constraints, or a complex process. This partnership has been formed to address this issue. Its goal is to motivate parents to update their biometrics promptly, secure their children’s identities, and address social and behavioral concerns. UIDAI believes that timely biometric updates will ensure children do not face any obstacles in accessing any Aadhaar-based service in the future.
