New Delhi: Central government employees are now eagerly awaiting the announcement of the 8th Pay Commission. While the Modi government approved the new Pay Commission in January, it hasn’t been formed yet. A committee will be formed, after which the review process can begin.
According to estimates, the review itself takes approximately 18 to 20 months to complete. This clearly means that the 10-year tradition will not be successful this time. A new Pay Commission is implemented every ten years, but this time, the chances of it taking effect on January 1, 2026, are completely gone.
It is expected to be implemented by 2028. Once implemented, salaries will increase significantly. Find out how much employees’ wages will increase in the report below.
How much will salaries increase under the 8th Pay Commission?
When the Pay Commission is implemented, the basis for salary increases is the fitment factor. Salaries are increased based on this factor. During the 7th Pay Commission, it was 2.57. This increased the minimum basic salary from ₹7,000 to ₹18,000. Before the 8th Pay Commission came into effect, some fitment factors were introduced.
Employee unions are expected to demand a fitment rate of 2.86 or higher. According to some media reports, the fitment factor is expected to range from 2.28 to 2.46. If this fitment factor is implemented, salaries are expected to range from ₹18,000 to ₹51,480. This is expected to be quite impressive. The fitment factor may also be officially confirmed soon.
When was the 7th Pay Commission implemented?
The Central Government implemented the 7th Pay Commission on January 1, 2026. Previously, the 6th Pay Commission was implemented on January 1, 2006. The implementation of the Pay Commission is considered to mean an increase in prices on all items. Employees benefit from this immediately and immediately.
Inflation on other daily items and other items increases gradually. Now, all central employees are eagerly awaiting the formation of the 8th Pay Commission. The government could make an announcement any day.
