New Beginning
BMW has made a major change to its GS Adventure family, bidding farewell to the G 310 GS and replacing it with the F 450 GS ADV as the new base model. BMW has a well-thought-out strategy behind this change. The company wants to meet the growing demand for compact adventure bikes worldwide. This bike can seamlessly perform all three tasks: everyday use, long highway rides, and gentle off-road riding. The goal is to connect new riders to BMW’s GS ecosystem, allowing them to easily enter the world of adventure riding.

Engine
The question now arises: what’s so special about this new bike? The answer lies in its heart: the engine. The old G 310 GS was based on a single-cylinder engine, but the new F 450 GS ADV features a 420cc parallel-twin engine. This engine produces 48 bhp of power at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. The switch from a single-cylinder to a twin-cylinder layout means a smoother, refined, and more powerful riding experience. This bike is not only perfect for city commutes, but also offers excellent performance for long journeys. This reflects BMW’s intention to launch its adventure range with a larger and more versatile format.
TVS and BMW Pairing
The production of this bike in India is no coincidence; it is the result of a partnership between TVS and BMW that dates back more than a decade. This partnership, which began in 2013, has now reached a historic milestone: production of two lakh units. Yes, models like the G 310 R, G 310 GS, and G 310 RR have achieved this milestone, supplying over 100 countries from the Hosur plant. The F 450 GS ADV is the latest addition to this portfolio, taking this partnership into a more premium displacement band in the sub-500cc category. This is a significant milestone for the Indian automobile industry.
Hosur Plant
TVS’s Hosur plant remains a key production base for BMW’s small and medium-capacity global models. Joint manufacturing processes developed over the past decade have enabled the facility to seamlessly transition to the 450cc platform. The local production capacity will support both domestic and export markets. This will enable BMW’s supply chain to keep pace with the growing global demand for mid-size adventure motorcycles.
