Tata Sierra 2026: Features, Price & Reasons Behind Its Success

Tata Sierra 2026: The Tata Sierra, the legendary SUV of the Indian automobile world, has already made history with its new avatar. Deliveries, which began on January 15, 2026, have now surpassed the milestone of 10,000 units. Within just 24 hours of bookings opening in December 2025, the Sierra received over 70,000 orders and has now surpassed 100,000.

Powerful Engine Options

Tata Motors has introduced the new Sierra with three different powertrains, making it capable of handling both city traffic and rugged terrain. The first option is a 106-horsepower 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, perfect for those who prefer quiet and economical driving.
For speed enthusiasts, a 160-horsepower 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine is available only with an automatic transmission and offers smooth shifting. For those traveling long distances, the 118-horsepower 1.5-liter diesel engine is a reliable companion, available in both manual and automatic options.

Triple Screen Setup and Luxury Features

The Sierra’s interior feels like a luxury private jet, with its triple-screen setup technology being a first in this segment. It features a 10.25-inch digital display for the driver and two large 12.3-inch touchscreens for infotainment and the front passenger.
Tata has spared no expense when it comes to comfort, offering premium features like a panoramic sunroof, a 12-speaker JBL sound system, ventilated front seats, and dual-zone climate control. Uniquely, it features a powered driver’s seat with Boss Mode and a memory-powered welcome function, making you feel like a king. The powered tailgate allows for easy, hands-free access to the trunk.

Level 2 ADAS and 360-Degree Camera

Tata vehicles are known for their robustness, and the new Sierra is a prime example. Safety features include six airbags standard across all variants. Additionally, ABS, EBD, Electronic Stability Program, and disc brakes on all four wheels ensure safe handling even at high speeds.
A key highlight is its Level 2 ADAS system, which comes with over 22 safety features, including advanced features like autonomous emergency braking and lane-keep assist. With a 360-degree camera and rear parking sensors, parking this large SUV, even in crowded areas, becomes a breeze.

Pricing and Direct Competition

The Sierra competes directly in India’s hottest mid-size SUV segment, facing heavyweights like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Toyota Hyrider. The Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, and MG Astor are also in the race. The Tata Sierra’s starting ex-showroom price is ₹11.49 lakh, going up to ₹21.29 lakh for the top-of-the-line model.
The company has launched it in seven trims: Smart Plus, Pure, Adventure, and Accomplished, giving customers a wide choice of 24 variants. Tata is currently rapidly ramping up production at its Sanand plant to reduce waiting periods due to the high demand.
