The Royal Enfield Scram 440 has stunned everyone with its style and performance since its debut. The improvements over the older Scram 411 are clearly felt on the road. Whether it’s acceleration, roll-on performance, or braking efficiency, the Scram 440 excels in every test. Let’s find out what makes this bike so unique and what makes it so special.

Engine
First of all, this bike is based on the bored out version of the old 411cc engine, ie its bore is increased by 3mm. Because of this the bike’s engine is now 443cc single cylinder, air-cooled which gives a power of 25.4hp (6,250rpm) and 34Nm torque (4,000rpm).
The biggest change is its 6 speed gearbox, which makes highway riding much easier than the earlier 5 speed. This makes the gear shift smooth and the bike offers comfortable cruising over long distances.

Top Speed
During the test, the weather was mostly dry, just in some places the roads were wet. Nevertheless the Scram 440 showed spectacular acceleration figures. The 0-60 kmph speed bike achieved in just 3.67 seconds, while it took 10.47 seconds in 0-100 kmph. When compared, the old Scram 411 took about a second to get the same speed.
The gearbox of the bike is quite smooth even when increasing speed, yes, clutch action feels a bit heavy, but its performance justifies it completely.
Braking
Scram 440 does not disappoint even in case of braking. It has disc brakes (front 300mm, rear 240mm) with dual-channel ABS. The 60–0 kmph braking distance was just 17.24 meters, while the Scram 411 was 18.01 meters. That is, the Scram 440 remains slightly more stable and in control.
The ABS system also now seems less intrusive, giving the rider more confidence. The funny thing is that the ABS behind you can also disable if you want which is a bonus feature for expert riders.

Design
The Scram 440 is designed on the concept of “Do-It-All Bike”. Meaning, this bike fits perfectly not only on city streets but also in off-road adventures. Its fuel tank is of 15 litres and kerb weight 179 kg, which gives it a balanced and stable ride.
