India’s EV market is changing rapidly and amid the same changes Mahindra is preparing to launch its new and most advanced three-row electric SUV – XEV 9S. The company will offer its flagship electric model, the SUV, to be launched on 27 November. Interestingly, there is no direct combat in this segment, making this SUV going to create a completely new market segment. With its modern design, high-tech interior and luxurious range, the Mahindra XEV 9S takes the thinking of a practical family electric SUV to a new level. Let’s know in detail about its design, features and powertrain.
Design

The design of the XEV 9S proves at first sight that Mahindra is making it part of its premium electric lineup. A sealed face is provided in the front of the SUV, including a connected LED DRL bar and special C-shaped lighting pattern. This layout gives it very modern and futuristic appeal. The triangular projector headlamps at the bottom bumper make its street presence even more impressive. The SUV features aero-optimized alloy wheels, which not only enhance the look but also help in efficiency. Sleek LED taillamps are provided with clean and supple surfacing at the rear, which, despite giving a glimpse of the XUV700, have a distinct identity.
Interior

The XEV 9S cabin fully follows the lounge-style layout. With a lightweight and premium color theme, it seems to be one of the most comfortable three-row electric SUVs in its segment. The dashboard features Mahindra’s signature triple-screen setup, which includes a digital instrument cluster, a large infotainment display, and a passenger-side screen. The cabin feels a ventilated and spacious atmosphere due to the flat floor, sliding and reclining seats and large glass area for both roe. Panoramic sunroof and Harmon Cardan’s premium audio systems make the cabin even more luxury and comfortable.
Features

The most special thing about this SUV is the Electric Boss Mode. While the boss mode was manual in the XUV700, the XEV 9S has a fully electric. Passengers sitting in Second Row can electrically slide and recline the front passenger seat through a control panel, which greatly increases the legroom. This feature will prove to be extremely comfortable during long trips. The feature list includes ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, wireless charger, two-spoke steering wheel, soft-touch dash and multiple connected technologies with digital screens. The INGLO platform gives better space inside and it is also much easier to reach the third row.
Range

Range is one of the largest forces of this SUV. The XEV 9S is expected to receive two battery pack options – 59kWh and 79kWh LFP batteries. These are the same battery packs used in XEV 9e and BE6. The SUV with a large battery pack will be able to deliver a range of over 650 km, making it one of the best electric SUVs to cover long distances. It can be charged in a short period of time thanks to Ultra-Fast DC Charging support. This feature makes it highly practical for highway travel and inter-city drives.
Powertrain
In terms of power the XEV 9S 231hp and 286hp— are expected to come with two different motor setups. Both setups will deliver 380Nm of torque, providing a great acceleration and smooth driving experience. Since it is based on the INGLO platform, driving dynamics are likely to be better, stronger and stable.
