Octa Platform

Land Rover has designed this rally-ready SUV on the same solid D7X architecture on which Defender Octa is built. The only difference is that everything here has been extreme even more according to the rally. This model comes with 35-inch massive tyres, wider track up to 60mm, and noticeably more ground clearance.

In Octa where 20-inch wheels meet, the D7X-R is given these large and strong tires to rip the crooked surfaces of the desert. Not only this, extra heavy-duty skid plates under the SUV, increased underbody protection and special shock absorbers made together with Bilstein make it to rally.

Engine

Talking about the engine, this SUV has the same powerhouse 4.4-litre twin turbo V8 engine, which will run on sustainable fuel. In the Octa, this engine produces 635 hp and up to 800 Nm of torque, but due to FIA stock-category rules, the output here has been reduced by an air-intake restrictor.

The gearbox is the same 8-speed torque converter automatic but its final drive ratio has been tuned differently to increase low-speed torque for dunes and steep climbs.

Exterior Design

Defender D7X-R’s design is as good as its capability. The SUV is designed in a two-tone exterior. Desert-shades are given on the lower body while bright aqua roof is inspired from “rare desert waters”.

Short bumpers give it better approach and departure angles on steep dunes. Roof-integrated LED lights, reworked air intakes, and muscular wheel arches make it even more aggressive.
