The futures of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in ODIs are being debated constantly.  Meanwhile, Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar and Head Coach Gautam Gambhir have not yet clarified their futures. Amidst all this, a statement from former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has come into the spotlight.

Harbhajan Singh made comments of Rohit and Virat’s career

Harbhajan Singh believes the future of greats like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli is being decided by “people who haven’t achieved much.” However, he hopes the pair will continue playing until the 2027 ODI World Cup. Rohit is 38, while Virat is 37.

“It is beyond our understanding. I may not be able to answer it because I have been a player myself and what I have seen has happened to me too. It has happened to many of my teammates, but it is very unfortunate. We do not talk about it or discuss it,” Harbhajan said in an interview.

He said, “When I see a player like Virat Kohli who is still in great form, I feel very happy. It is a bit unfortunate that people who have not achieved much are taking decisions about their future.”

Virat Kohli is in excellent form these days. He has scored two consecutive centuries at home in the current series against South Africa. Rohit Sharma, meanwhile, has scored two half-centuries and an unbeaten 121 in his last four innings.

Harbhajan Singh said, “He has always scored runs and has always been a great player for India. He has performed very well as a batsman and is the captain of the team. I am very happy for him, he is going from strength to strength. Not only going from strength to strength, but also setting an example for the younger generation about what it takes to be a champion. So, congratulations to Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for setting the right example.”
