Another memorable day for Vaibhav Suryavanshi and a historic feat in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament. It was the first time when a 14-year-old batter smashed a hundred in the prestigious tournament. Suryavanshi scored the hundred while playing for Bihar against Maharashtra. Because of his century Bihar got to register a fightable total against a strong Maharashtra cricket team.
Landmark century for 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, representing Bihar, scored an unbeaten century against Maharashtra at Eden Gardens. The left-handed batsman scored an unbeaten 108 off just 61 balls, hitting seven fours and seven sixes. Vaibhav’s innings helped Bihar post 176/3 in 20 overs. Vaibhav Suryavanshi reached his century by hitting a four off the first ball of the 20th over bowled by Arsheen Kulkarni. He reached the century in 58 balls. Vaibhav’s innings displayed a wonderful blend of patience and aggression.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s century came at a crucial time. He had been dismissed for 14, 13, and 5 in the previous three matches. In the match, Vaibhav shared 70 runs for the third wicket with Akash Raj (26) and then an unbeaten 75-run partnership with Ayush Loharuka (25*).
Devdutt Padikkal scored a century
In addition to Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Devdutt Padikkal also scored a brilliant century for Karnataka against Tamil Nadu in Ahmedabad. Opening the innings with Mayank Agarwal, Padikkal reached his half-century in just 26 balls and his century in 45. The left-handed batsman smashed 10 fours and six sixes during his unbeaten 102.
Devdutt Padikkal’s innings helped Karnataka post 245 for three in their allotted 20 overs. Two left-handed batsmen dominated the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Tuesday. Both (Vaibhav and Devdutt) scored unbeaten centuries to help their team reach a strong total.
