UIDAI Update – The Election Commission has taken a major decision regarding the Special Intensive Revision of Voter Lists (SIR). The SIR process has been extended by seven days. BLOs must now complete the SIR by December 11th.

The previous deadline for completing this work was December 4th. Due to the workload on BLOs and the allegations and demands of opposition political parties, the Election Commission has decided to extend the SIR deadline. Under the Election Commission’s direction, SIR work is underway in 12 states and union territories. Several BLOs have also been reported killed during this work.

In which states is SIR work being carried out?

The Election Commission is carrying out SIR work in 12 states and union territories. These states include the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.

The Election Commission intends to revise the voter list by removing the votes of infiltrators and the deceased through the SIR. The seven-day extension of the deadline has brought significant relief to the employees involved. BLOs will be able to complete this task by December 11th.
