December 2025 Bank Holidays: The final month of the year, December, is just kicking off. If you’re planning to do any bank transactions this month, it’s a good idea to get familiar with the bank holidays. As per the RBI’s updated holiday calendar, banks across various states and union territories will be shut for 18 days in December due to local holidays.
Besides the usual weekend closures, banks will also be closed for public holidays in several states, as indicated in the holiday calendar. All banks in states and union territories will be closed on December 25th for Christmas. The RBI’s holiday list for December 2025 also notes that bank branches will be closed on the second and fourth Saturdays, along with all four Sundays.
Since branch services won’t be available on any bank holidays, customers should plan their visits based on their bank’s regional holiday calendar. However, online banking services will still be operational on all bank holidays. Customers can take advantage of online services like Unified Payments Interface (UPI) payments, net banking, and ATM transactions.
