Earthquake in Kolkata: An earthquake was felt in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, on Friday morning. The quake measured 5.6 on the Richter scale, causing panic among the people. People rushed out of their homes and offices immediately after feeling the tremor. The tremors were felt throughout West Bengal. According to initial reports, the earthquake lasted for a few seconds between 10:08 and 10:10 am. It was felt in Kolkata, Malda, Nadia, Cooch Behar, and several other districts. According to the US Geological Survey, tremors were felt in several parts of Northeast India, including West Bengal. The USGS states that the epicentre of the earthquake was in Ghorasal, Dhaka, and the depth was 10 km. According to the National Centre for Seismology, the tremor follows two medium-intensity earthquakes that struck Pakistan and Afghanistan on Friday morning. The quake shook a large area of ​​South Bengal. The tremor was felt at 10:10 am and lasted for about 20 seconds.
