The second match of the two-match Test series between India and South Africa will be played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati from November 22nd. The first match of this series was played at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata, which ended in just three days.

South Africa won the Kolkata Test match by 30 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the series, making the second Test match very important for Team India. The Guwahati Test match is going to prove to be a milestone for Indian cricket, in which it will become a part of a special list, which previously included only the teams of England and Australia.

India will host the 300th Test

So far, only ODI and T20 matches have been played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. This will be the first time Team India has played a Test match there. This match is going to be very important for Indian cricket, as India will host its 300th Test match. So far, only two countries in world cricket have hosted 300 or more Test matches. The first in this list is England, considered the birthplace of cricket, where 566 Test matches have been played. Australia is second on the list, having hosted 450 Test matches. With this, India will now become the third country in this list to have hosted 300 or more Test matches.

Countries that have hosted the most Test matches

England – 566 Test matches

Australia – 450 Test matches

India – 299 Test matches

West Indies – 270 Test matches

South Africa – 254 Test matches

Team India captain Shubman Gill was ruled out of the Kolkata Test against South Africa due to a neck strain, making it difficult for him to be fully fit before the second Test. In such a scenario, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant could assume the captaincy of Team India in the Guwahati Test. If that happens, Rishabh Pant will be the second wicketkeeper in Indian cricket, after MS Dhoni, to captain Team India in Tests.
