The Bangladesh Cricket Board has appointed young cricketer Saif Hassan as the captain of the T20 team. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Nazmul Hossain Shanto have been named vice-captains of the Test and ODI teams, respectively. The board announced this on Tuesday.
Litton Das appointed as the captain
“Saif Hasan has been appointed as the vice-captain of the T20I team following his consistent and impressive performances in the shortest format for Bangladesh. Litton Das has been named captain of the team until the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026,” the BCB said in a statement.
The BCB said Mehidy has been appointed as the vice-captain of the Bangladesh Test team, where he will serve as deputy to Nazmul Hossain Shanto. Shanto will remain captain until the end of the current ICC Test Championship cycle. In the ODI format, Nazmul Hossain Shanto will serve as vice-captain under Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Miraz was appointed as the ODI captain in June this year for a one-year term. He was with the IPL team during the 2023 season.
Litton Das has been a prolific name for years in the international cricket arena. The batter also participated in the Indian Premier League for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), though, it was not a memorable instance for the batter as he got to play only one match for KKR, where he was able to score only 4 runs.
A Bangladesh Cricket Board official said on Tuesday (November 18) that the upcoming women’s tour of India in December has been postponed indefinitely. Bangladesh was scheduled to play three ODIs and as many T20 matches in India starting in mid-December. Recently, the BCCI informed the board that they could not host the series because they wanted to give the players a longer break after their first World Cup win.
