On November 10, 2025, a new record was created in world cricket. Akash Kumar Chaudhary of Meghalaya made the fastest half-century in first-class history. He scored the half-century in 11 balls against Arunachal Pradesh. In this innings, he hit 8 consecutive sixes in 8 balls. Because of this, he has become the subject of much discussion.

Many people may not know about him. He himself has revealed the story behind his world record. Playing against Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya’s Akash Choudhary came in to bat at number eight. He immediately started playing big shots, hitting eight consecutive sixes. He smashed six sixes in Limar Dabi’s over and then two sixes off TN Mohith. With this, he completed the fastest half-century in just 11 balls with a strike rate of 357.14. Meghalaya declared the innings after Akash’s half-century. He has etched his name not only in the Ranji Trophy but in the entire first-class history of the world. He made the impossible possible.

What is the story behind making the world record?

In an interview, Akash Kumar Chaudhary explained the story behind his world record. He said, “After hitting three sixes, I felt I could hit every ball. It was a quick decision. I’m very happy with my achievement. The idea was to declare early. Score as many runs as I could. I had practiced hitting sixes and continued to build on my confidence from my previous innings against Bihar, where I hit four sixes in a 60-run innings. Anyone can win in cricket. I was playing according to the situation.”

Who is Akash Kumar Chaudhary?

Akash Kumar Chaudhary is a 25-year-old right-handed batsman. Born in Shillong, Akash focused on cricket from an early age. The son of a welder and tailor, he joined the ranks of legends like Ravi Shastri and Garfield Sobers, who hit six sixes in an over in first-class cricket at just 25 years old.

Akash made his first-class debut against Nagaland in December 2019. Since then, his journey has seen its share of ups and downs. The current Ranji season has proven to be a remarkable one, and he is now the talk of the nation for his record-breaking performances.
