India and Sri Lanka are officially set to host the 2026 T20 World Cup. India last won the 2024 World Cup under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. Preparations for the upcoming 2026 World Cup have intensified. The ICC and BCCI have selected two major Indian cities for the 2026 World Cup. However, no city has been finalized for the final. In the upcoming T20 World Cup, multiple new teams will be there to chase the title. As international cricket council, ICC, wants to expand the game more, new teams like Italy is all set to play against some of the top teams of the world.

2 cities selected for the semi-finals

Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium and Kolkata’s Eden Gardens have been selected as the venues for the T20 World Cup semi-finals, scheduled to be held in February-March next year, with the ICC and BCCI approving this. Previously, five Indian cities – Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata – were selected for the 2026 World Cup. Sri Lanka has already finalized three stadiums: two in Colombo and one in Kandy. If Pakistan or Sri Lanka reach the semi-finals, the semi-final will be played in Colombo. However, if neither country makes it to the semi-finals, the matches will be played in Ahmedabad and Kolkata. The last World Cup was held in 2024, hosted by the USA and the West Indies, and featured 20 teams. All teams were divided into four groups of five each. The top two teams from each group advanced to the Super 8 round, and from there, four teams qualified for the semi-finals. The upcoming T20 World Cup 2026 will be played in a similar fashion.
