Ration cards are one of the most essential documents for receiving government rations and availing the benefits of various government schemes in the country. Therefore, keeping your ration card updated, especially with the addition of a new family member, is crucial.
Add a family member’s name online
The process of adding a name to a ration card has become incredibly easy with the “Mera Ration 2.0” app.
First, you need to download the app by searching for ‘Ration Card’ or ‘Mera Ration 2.0’ on the Google Play Store.
Once the app is downloaded, open it. You can log in using your Aadhaar card.
An OTP will be sent to the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar card. After entering the OTP, your account will be successfully logged in.
This is where you’ll see the option to Manage Family Details.
After clicking this option, go to ‘Add New Member’. Enter the new member’s Aadhaar details and other required information.
Finally, click Next and carefully check all the details.

Offline Update Feature and Process

First, you need to visit your nearest Public Service Center (CSC) or ration card office. There, you will need to obtain a ration card update form and fill in all your details accurately. Attach the updated documents related to the new member (such as birth certificate and Aadhaar card) and submit the form to the concerned officer. After completing all the steps, you will be given a receipt, which you should keep safe for future reference. After verification of all documents, your ration card will be updated.
