Pakistan Cricket Board’s Mohsin Naqvi has made a new plan to avoid a direct meeting with the BCCI. It is being reported that Mohsin Naqvi will not attend the ICC meeting. The BCCI had previously announced that it would raise the Asia Cup trophy controversy at the ICC meeting and strongly oppose Mohsin Naqvi. This may be why Naqvi is afraid and will no longer be a part of the ICC meeting.
Asia Cup trophy controversy
Mohsin Naqvi is the chairman of the PCB and the interior minister in the Pakistan government. Team India refused to accept the trophy from him after winning the Asia Cup. If Naqvi had wanted, he could have asked another ACC member to present the trophy. However, he took the trophy with him, and Team India has not received it yet. The BCCI even wrote a letter to ACC chief Mohsin Naqvi to return the trophy, but received no clear response. The BCCI made it clear that they would raise the issue at an ICC meeting.
Mohsin Naqvi will not attend the ICC meeting: Reports
It is reported that Mohsin Naqvi will not be attending the ICC Executive Board meeting in Dubai. They cited domestic political issues as the primary reason. The four-day ICC meeting began on November 4th, but Naqvi will not be attending. The report did not clarify the political reasons for Naqvi’s absence. The PCB has decided to send Chief Operating Officer Sumer Saeed in his place for the ICC meeting on November 7th, 2025. Sources also told PTI that Naqvi will likely join the meeting by phone. When will Team India get the Asia Cup trophy?
Team India may receive the Asia Cup trophy soon. When this issue is raised at the ICC meeting, the PCB and Mohsin Naqvi will clearly have no answer. There is no rule stating that only the ACC chief can present the trophy. In such a situation, the ICC could reprimand Naqvi and instruct him to present the trophy to Team India soon.
