There’s exciting news for those traveling between Uttarakhand and Delhi! Indian Railways is preparing to launch a new and luxurious Vande Bharat Express from Kathgodam to Delhi. This train will be the first Vande Bharat Express in the Izzatnagar Division, providing millions of passengers in the Kumaon and Terai regions with an unprecedented experience of fast, safe, and comfortable travel. The launch of this bullet-like train will not only significantly reduce travel time but also boost tourism and regional development.

Kathgodam-Delhi Vande Bharat

Uttarakhand currently operates two Vande Bharat Express trains—one from Dehradun to Delhi and the other from Dehradun to Lucknow. This third Vande Bharat train, originating from Kathgodam, will be a major milestone for the Kumaon region. This Vande Bharat train, being the first Vande Bharat Express in the Izzatnagar Division, will connect passengers from major cities like Kathgodam, Haldwani, and Rudrapur directly to Delhi.

This will significantly reduce the time and effort required for passengers from the Kumaon and Terai regions to reach Delhi or other major cities. This train will prove extremely beneficial, especially for pilgrims and tourists, as it will make it much easier to reach the natural and religious sites of Uttarakhand.

90 km of track prepared for maximum speed

The Railways have made significant infrastructure changes to ensure the maximum speed of this new Vande Bharat Express and a fast and safe journey for passengers. A dedicated 90 km track has been developed from Kathgodam to Rampur (Chamrua). Old sleepers have been replaced with modern, longer sleepers, and the rail lines have been strengthened. Special attention has been paid to track fencing and modern standards to ensure safety.

Travel time will be reduced, and connectivity will increase

The introduction of this new Vande Bharat train will strengthen the state’s railway connectivity, providing a major boost to regional development. According to a report, this train is planned to run six days a week. Senior divisional official Sanjeev Sharma informed that a file for eleven pairs of new trains has been submitted to the Board, with the Kathgodam-Delhi Vande Bharat train at the top.

Passengers will immediately benefit from these services once they receive Board approval. Due to limited space at Kathgodam station and the presence of more than six trains on a single line, train maintenance is being considered for shifting to Delhi, where a larger yard and machinery are available.

Other New Trains Also Planned

In addition to the Kathgodam-Delhi Vande Bharat train, the Railways has also planned several other new trains for the region. This list of new trains includes trains from Ramnagar to Udaipur, Lalkuan to Dwarka, Izzatnagar to Chandigarh, and Vaishno Devi. In total, 22 new trains are scheduled to be introduced under this initiative. This visionary initiative by the Railways will not only enhance passenger convenience but also revolutionize the economic and tourism landscape of Uttarakhand.
