Keeping in mind the convenience of its millions of members, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) launched a new feature called Passbook Lite in September 2025. This new tool, introduced as part of the EPFO 3.0 reforms, aims to provide a simpler and faster way to access PF balance and transaction information. Previously, members had to log in to a separate portal to view their PF passbook, but now they can directly log in to the EPFO Member Portal and quickly view important information such as total balance, recent deposits, and withdrawals.

Passbook Lite is especially useful for employees who want to check their PF status in just one click, without any complicated procedures. Members who need detailed statements, interest, or monthly transaction information can use the old passbook portal. Additionally, the EPFO has simplified the process of downloading Annexure K, making it easier to track PF transfers when changing jobs.

What is EPFO Passbook Lite?

Passbook Lite is a new tool added to EPFO’s digital services, designed to quickly display basic PF account information. While the traditional passbook provides a detailed breakdown of monthly contributions, interest, and withdrawals, Passbook Lite only summarizes key data so members can quickly assess their savings.

Why This Feature Was Created

Many employees faced login issues or slow servers while accessing their PF passbooks. Passbook Lite was introduced as a simple and quick-loading option. This will allow employees to check their PF balance and recent transactions without wasting time.

Which Members Will It Be Useful For

Passbook Lite is convenient for users who simply want to check their balance, total deposits, and recent withdrawal status. Members who need financial planning or a complete statement can still use their old passbook. This feature does not replace the detailed passbook, but rather complements it.

Downloading Annexure K Made Easy

Annexure K, a crucial document used for PF transfers, can now be downloaded directly from the EPFO portal. This has made the process of PF transfers and tracking them more transparent and seamless when transitioning to a new job.
