Jemima, unable to contain her emotions after the victory, broke down. She was consoled by the rest of her team. She was also seen folding her hands and saying “thank you” to her family, who were present at the stadium to witness her daughter’s historic innings.
Immediately after receiving the Player of the Match award, Jemimah went to meet her family and became emotional again, but this time it was tears of joy. She first hugged her father, who maintained a stoic face. The 25-year-old then hugged the rest of her family. Jemimah was informed five minutes before the start of the run chase that she would be batting at number three. India suffered their first blow in the form of Shafali Verma at just 13 runs.
When Jemimah stepped onto the field, the target was a mammoth 339 runs. She forged partnerships with Smriti Mandhana, captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh, and finally Amanjot to take the team to victory. Her 167-run partnership with Harman was crucial. She played an unbeaten innings of 127 runs off 134 balls, hitting 14 fours.
