BYD Racco
Let me tell you that BYD Racco has been specially designed keeping in mind the vehicle rules of Japan. It is a compact electric car (EV), which fits into Japan’s “Kei Car” category. The size of these cars is small but it proves to be extremely practical for driving in cities.
This is BYD’s first car made just for the Japanese market. It is not only a smart city car, but its design and technology also make it better for the future.
Design
Talking about its design, BYD Racco’s design has given simplicity as well as futuristic touch. Its look is boxy and compact like the rest of the Kei Cars, but its modern LED headlights, C-shaped DRLs, and closed-off grille design make it even more stylish.
The same car has a length of 3,395mm, width 1,475mm and height 1,800mm. That is, it is quite compact and can easily fit on congested roads like Japan. Its sliding rear doors and small alloy wheels give it a practical and unique appeal.
Exterior
BYD Racco prototype features black contrast elements with all-white exteriors. This black touch is given around its pillars, mirrors, fog lamps and grille. A backlit BYD logo with LED taillights on the back gives it a premium finish.
This car is designed to seat four people. Modern features such as digital driver display, touchscreen infotainment system and smartphone connectivity are expected from inside.
Performance
BYD Racco is equipped with the company’s famous Blade Battery Technology. It will be available in two variants – Short Range and Long Range. Both versions will feature a single electric motor that will power the front wheels.
Although BYD has not yet shared its range officially, reports will give a 20kWh battery in the Long Range version that can give a range of up to 180 kilometers. This range is considered good enough for everyday driving inside cities.

Launch timeline
BYD Racco has received a spectacular response in Japan. The company is preparing to launch it in the second half of 2026 (second half). BYD plans to register its strong entry into Japan’s electric market through this Kei Car.
The company has already made a mark in the international market with electric cars such as BYD Dolphin, Atto 3 and Seal EV. Now BYD from Racco is also targeting smaller EV segments in Japan.
