Special Trains: Good news for train passengers. The Chhath festival is approaching, and like every year, railway stations are witnessing heavy rush of passengers. In response, the Indian Railways has taken a major step to ensure passenger convenience. Over the next five days, the Railways will run 1,500 special trains to ensure every passenger reaches home safely and comfortably.

1500 special trains will run in the next 5 days

According to the Railway Ministry, this decision was made in view of the rapid increase in passenger traffic during Chhath Puja. The ministry stated that these trains are intended to reduce congestion during the festive season and provide passengers with a comfortable travel experience.

The press note said, “Indian Railways is continuously expanding its services to ensure the convenience of passengers during this festive season. Apart from regular train services, it has been decided to run 1,500 special trains in the next 5 days, which means around 300 trains will be in service to passengers every day.”

Earlier, during the Diwali season, the Railways operated 4,493 special train trips over 21 days, an average of 213 trips per day. This time, even more trains are being arranged for the Chhath festival. The Railway Ministry informed that there is a plan to run more than 12,000 special trains in a total of 61 days during this festive season i.e. between October 1 and November 30, 2025. So far, notifications for 11,865 trips (916 trains) have been issued, which include 9,338 reserved and 2,203 unreserved trips.

Last year, only 7,724 Puja and Diwali special trains were run during this period, which means this time the Railways has made a huge increase in the facilities. According to the Railway Ministry, more than 1 crore passengers travelled by these special trains between October 1 and October 19, 2025.
