Platform Ticket Rules: Big news for everyone. At five major stations in the National Capital Region (NCR), you will no longer be able to enter any drop-off point. Platform tickets have been discontinued at these five stations until October 28th. This means that only those traveling by train will be allowed inside. These five stations are: New Delhi, Old Delhi, Anand Vihar, Hazrat Nizamuddin, and Ghaziabad.

This decision has been taken in view of the crowds that gather at railway stations during the festive season. Platform tickets have not been discontinued only in Delhi. Similar arrangements have been made at major stations in cities where there is a large number of migrants from Bihar. For example, the sale of platform tickets has been temporarily banned at some major stations including CSMT and Bandra Terminus in Mumbai. This ban will remain in effect from today till October 31. Apart from this, platform tickets will not be available at Vapi, Udhna and Surat stations in Gujarat till October 31.

Since platform tickets were discontinued, it has often been observed that people purchase local train tickets to drop off their acquaintances, allowing them to gain entry. The railway has yet to find a concrete way to curb this, resulting in the situation inside the station remaining unchanged.
