Mobile Number-Driving License Linking-The Ministry of Road Transport has asked all driving license holders and vehicle owners to link their mobile numbers. The ministry stated that people can link their mobile numbers through the Aadhaar authentication process. Linking a mobile number will be required to avail any transport and driving license-related services.
The ministry stated that people can update or add new information by visiting the Vahan and Sarathi portals. They must provide complete, accurate, and up-to-date information. An online facility for updating mobile numbers has been provided on the portal. State transport departments are also sending messages to driving license holders and vehicle owners urging them to update their information.
Linking mobile number may become mandatory in future
According to media reports, both the central and state transport departments have taken this step to curb vehicle owners and drivers who frequently change their mobile numbers and addresses to avoid paying fines. Sources also suggest the government may introduce a new rule making it mandatory to update Aadhaar-linked addresses.
How to link mobile number with RC?
Go to the website parivahan.gov.in.
Select the option to update mobile number through Aadhaar.
Enter vehicle registration number, chassis number, engine number, date of registration and validity.
Complete Aadhaar authentication, enter security code and submit.
How to link mobile number with driving license?
Scan the Sarathi QR code on the portal or visit the relevant page.
Enter driving license details along with date of birth, state and captcha code.
Complete Aadhaar authentication.
Click on Submit to complete the process.
